Real estate company 138 Student Living, (138SL) extended its youth outreach recently through the donation of personal grooming items for students at the North Street-based St. George’s College.
The presentation which took place on the school’s campus is part of the company’s “outreach and corporate social responsibility activities”, according to 138SL’ Public Relations and Marketing Manager, Karelle McCormack.
“The school reached out to us for donations of items to help to assist the students in their back-to-school efforts and we were only too happy to assist,” McCormack added.
Acting Principal, Suzette Mullings-Douglas in accepting the items expressed gratitude for the donation. “Receiving these items is very timely and will go a long way to assist our students,” she said.
School Chairman, Father Rohan Tulloch who was also on hand to receive the donation noted that many of the students come from low-income families which have challenges affording items for their children to come to school.
It was the first time, that 138SL was making a donation to St. George’s College. In the past, the Jamaica National Children’s Home, which is a benefactor of 138SL and Sophie’s Place have also received donations from the company.
138 Student Living which operates on the UWI Mona Campus provides student accommodation through the George Alleyne, Irvine and Leslie Robinson Halls, as well as short-term accommodation at the Gerald Lalor Flats.
